A special course in natural way to enhance your creative skills.

The Tao of the Flowing Brush is an art course that teaches drawing, painting, and visual thinking by combining traditional artistic techniques with direct observation of nature and spontaneous creative expression.

This course has developed over many years of teaching in art schools and colleges. It has helped numerous students master fundamental artistic tools and techniques while understanding how these traditional methods remain relevant for modern creative expression.

The course balances two important approaches: the analytical study of form (learning to see and understand what you’re drawing) with the intuitive, personal approach (trusting your instincts and emotions). This combination helps restore the sense of wonder and inspiration that art should provide.

There’s growing recognition today that creativity isn’t limited to a few “specially gifted” individuals. Research shows we all have creative capacity that can be developed and enhanced.

I believe creativity is a natural human gift – part of what makes us human.

Unfortunately, our culture often discourages this natural creativity from an early age, pressuring us to conform rather than explore. Only some people manage to preserve and develop their creative abilities despite this conditioning.

The Taoist understanding that all life is flow – a constant movement and transformation – is central to this approach.

Just as water naturally finds its path around obstacles, creative expression flows most naturally when we don’t force it but allow it to emerge organically. In Taoism, this effortless action is called “wu wei” – working with the natural flow rather than against it.

When we draw or paint with this understanding, we’re not trying to control every mark or rigidly plan every stroke. Instead, we learn to dance with the medium, responding to what emerges on the paper or canvas. The brush becomes an extension of this natural flow, moving in harmony with our observations, emotions, and intuitive responses to what we see.

This flowing approach helps us connect with the living energy in everything around us – the way light moves across a face, how trees bend with the wind, or how shadows shift throughout the day. By aligning ourselves with these natural rhythms and movements, our art becomes more alive and authentic.

I have chosen the framework of Wuxing – the Five Elements system of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water – as a well-explored and trusted system that can teach us to find dynamic balance in the changing flow of life. This ancient wisdom helps us understand how different energies interact, support, and transform each other, providing a practical foundation for navigating both artistic expression and life’s constant changes with greater harmony and awareness.

Here , you can explore deeper the five cycle of creativity that matches perfectly to the fivefold cycle of the artistic creativity flow.
