First cycle of Creativity

The first cycle of creativity focuses on the timeless principles of Painting.
The three basic domains relevant to mastering these principles are Form building, Tonal Values, and the different aspects of Color. There are, of course, more than those three, but for the sake of simplicity, it is better to remain as concise as possible.

The other three domains are general topics that support the main three.

They are. Materials, Techniques, and Subject Matter.

The main three domains are strongly influenced by the materials and techniques we use.

There is, of course, the all-important Subject Matter.

Usually, when we start a work of art, the simplest procedure is to look for that something special that we would like to express. Be it a lovely face of a stranger we encountered accidentally in a cafe, or someone we are intimately familiar with, like our spouse, child, or a friend.

It can be a vase of flowers, lit by light coming from a window, our adorable cat, or an inspiring landscape. The subject matter is endless, as we can see in the amazing variety of subjects demonstrated by great artists from all ages and eras.
And here we come to a special, unique domain that lies at the heart of the First cycle of Creativity.
The inner meaning of a given subject.
