Wood — The Seed of Inception
Every creative act begins before the first mark is made. Wood is the phase of inception — the quiet stirring of an idea before it has any form, the impulse that says: something wants to be made.
In the creative cycle, Wood shows up in a few recognizable ways:
- The Spark — an image, a feeling, or a fragment of memory that refuses to leave you alone
- The Pull — the almost physical urge to pick up the brush, before you know what you are making
- The Seed Sketch — the first tentative marks, rough and unjudged, that give the idea a body
Wood cannot be forced. It can only be noticed, and protected long enough to grow into Fire.
